KINDERGARTEN
KI (3 years) – KII (4 years)

     From 3 years of age children in the Nursery class graduate to the first year of Kindergarten.  The Kindergarten is a two-year program (KI - KII) for children turning 4 and 5.  English language learning is strongly emphasized throughout these 2 years, particularly the children's spoken language.  During this period we expect a dramatic increase in the children's spoken vocabulary through the many positive social interactions not only with teachers but also with other students during the course of the day.  In Kindergarten I 'Show and Tell' is introduced to the teaching session to provide daily opportunities for the children to share their experiences, listen to others and respond with questions or statements. Our Curriculum responds to the individual abilities, interests and needs of our students. 

     The teacher plays an active role in modeling and teaching the ABC, numbers, counting, greetings, common language patterns and structures, pronunciation, introductory grammar and extension vocabulary based around themes that change weekly.   Some Unit topics include: Me, Myself and I, Science, Study of Plants and seeds, Colors and Shapes, Seasons and The Animal Kingdom. Singing, Drama and Dance presentations are organized twice yearly. All children are given the opportunity to work independently and co-operatively. 

     The program also organizes time for physical activities to enhance hand-eye coordination, strength development, skills and stamina.  Physical education includes water play, swimming, sandpit, dance, movement to music, outdoor and indoor games, ball handling skills, as well as other activities organized when the need or demand arises.  Full use is made of the wading pool, new swimming pool, out-door play equipment and soft-room facilities under close supervision.  Particular attention is paid to safety and sanitation.

     The Kindergarten classes (K1 - KII) provide a warm and stable environment to foster learning, and help build confidence and self-esteem.  Our aim is to facilitate many stimulating and varied opportunities to encourage and extend the children not only to learn English but to think, problem solve, imagine, create and learn.  By the end of  KII          (5 years) the children are ready to graduate to our Grade school classes.
